Il Sacerdote porta la Parola di Dio tra i fedeli, la spiega e la interpreta nei suoi passaggi più oscuri, e, nel frattempo, consiglia e conforta, incoraggia e blandisce, rimprovera, quando necessario. Il suo ruolo si avvicina a quello di Gesù stesso, capo della Chiesa, Buon Pastore, Fratello tra i fratelli.
